Walking Therapy

Therapy in motion, in nature.

Side-by-side sessions along quiet Derbyshire paths — for the things that are easier to say when you’re not sitting still.

Why walking?

Something shifts when we move. Walking side-by-side — rather than face-to-face — quietens the self-conscious part of us. The rhythm of the steps slows the breath. The landscape, gently changing, gives the harder feelings somewhere to land.

Research and decades of clinical experience both point in the same direction: for many people, therapy outdoors is not just as effective as sitting in a room — it opens up things that the room cannot.

It might suit you if…

  • · Sitting still in a room feels difficult or activating
  • · You think more clearly when you move
  • · You feel calmer outdoors than indoors
  • · You’d like therapy to be part of a wider practice of caring for yourself
