My story

A path that began with listening.

I came to this work through a long-held belief that being properly listened to — without judgement, without rush — is one of the most healing experiences a person can have. Over fifteen years of practice across the NHS, charity sector and in private work, I've been quietly humbled by what becomes possible when people are given that kind of space.

I work integratively. That means I draw on person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural ideas, but I never try to fit you into a model. Instead we work out, together, what is most helpful for you — sometimes that's exploring the past, sometimes it's practical strategies and tools you can take into daily life, sometimes it's simply having somewhere to put everything down for an hour.

My approach

Therapy with me is warm, collaborative and practical. There's no jargon, no homework you have to do, and no version of yourself you have to perform. We work at the pace that suits you — whether that's moving towards clear goals or slowing down to process what matters most.

I particularly value walking therapy, which I offer along quiet Derbyshire paths. Moving side-by-side, with the woods around us, often unlocks things that are harder to say in a room.

What stays between us

What you share here is confidential. Unlike some NHS and charity services, sessions are not routinely shared with your GP and nothing is added to your medical record unless you specifically ask me to. You are in control of your own information.

Outside the consulting room

When I'm not working you'll find me walking my dogs in the Peak District, in my garden, reading, or out for a run. I believe a therapist needs a full life outside the work — it's part of what keeps the work alive.
